Issue of children is viewed by CSSC in two perspectives. Health and Nutrition Child Development . (Health and Nutrition projects are discussed somewhere else on this website.)
Child Development Projects are
C1.Child education project : CSSC started educational programme on 1st July 2014, with the support of Tata Motors Ltd for the students of 8th,9th & 10th standards belonging to low income group , SC,ST and minority background. (Tata Motors Ltd. supported these classes for one year (i.e. for academic year 2014-15 . From June 2015,CSSC continued classes on its own for 5th to 10th standards)Aims and Objectives of the project:
a)To provide tuition support in difficult subjects to poor school going students from the slum area to promote their education.
b)To establish and reinforce basic classroom rules (Form rules for children and explain through role plays, videos, presentations)
c)To strengthen self-control and encourage reflective thinking in the classroom (Interactive sessions, discipline, meeting with parents etc.)
d)To improve children’s communication skills with adults and peers (Sessions on communication, extempore presentation and group discussion)
e)To use literature to discuss and promote pro-social, responsible behavior (competitions, posters, awards for good behavior)
f)To enhance children’s abilities to recognize and interpret similarities and differences in the feelings, reactions, and points of view in themselves and others (Role plays, debates, group activities, interactive sessions, peer reviews)
g ) Needy students and their parents were provided counseling through CSSC Counseling Centre.

CHILDREN’S DEVELOPMENT KHAZANA (CDK)
CDK project was taken up with assistance from Butterflies, a Delhi based child rights NGO in June 2013, as a vehicle to make slum children knowledgeable in concepts of personal and economic independence. Children’s Development Khazana (CDK) is a programme which teaches children financial management as a life skills education.. As part of practical training children manage their own banks on cooperative principles. The objective of CDK is to promote life skills education through democratic participation, leadership, inculcate knowledge of cooperative and financial management, prioritizing needs, budgeting, vocational/technical skill, banking principles, basics of management principles, and fundamentals of accountancy- providing saving, credit facilities and promoting a habit of entrepreneurship. In CDK, members nominate their own child volunteer managers (for six months). Children manage their own Khazanas on cooperative principles and they focus on learning a professional skills or becoming entrepreneurs under the guidance of Adult Facilitator (Focal Person). Thus CDK helps them to try coming out of their situation of poverty and insecurity. After the support from Butterfles from New Delhi was over,CSSC was actively assisted by the following organizations and the programmes are continued till date with their assistance : Rotary Club of SoBo: Conducting Life Skill Sessions for our children and Exposure Visits and Summer Camp Yes I Can Foundation: Life Skill Session I Create Foundation: Speech Therapy through Performing Arts Hirray College: Life Skill Sessions CDK: Sessions of Maths and Science through fun filled experiments
CHSC (CHILD HEALTH & SPORTS CO-OPERATIVE)
Child Health & Sports Co-operative (CHSC) The mission of the Child Health &Sports Cooperative is to educate a child on the importance of safe and healthy living which would help them to stay healthy and reduce their vulnerability to preventable illnesses. The cooperative has regular workshops where the children are educated on health issues & sports activities and gain knowledge regarding various diseases and sports. The cooperative is based on the principle that children can collectively advocate for health and sports services. Every year, selected children undergo training which includes administering first aid, addressing minor health issues and hospital visits to understand the functioning of hospitals. One of them can act as a Child Health Educator, Child Sports Educator and Buddy for the peers. The aim of CHSC is to promote grass root health educators, sports educator and buddies among the children.
REPORT on POSHAN BOX
For identifying undernourished children between 5-14 years of age Health workers use using Dandpatti i.e. standard Sakir’s strips for measuring mid arm circumference. Subsequently, Bal Asha Trust and medical staff of Decimal foundation conducted health check up camp of the identified undernourished children at 4 places namely 1. Nehru Nagar, 2. Deepak wadi , 3. Gulshan Nagar and 4. Behram Nagar i.e. on 4th February, 2023 at Nehru Nagar and Behram Nagar and on 5th February at Gulshan Nagar and Deepakwadi. Total 408 children were identified. Subsequently, from April 2023 we started distributing nutrition supplement boxes – Poshan Boxes to the identified undernourished children. For six months children consumed nutritional supplement. First follow up camp was organized in month of October 2023, and 216 children attended the health check up camp. Out of 216, 88 children gained weight and remaining 128 children were underweight. Poshan boxes supplement were continued to these 128 children. Then two follow up camps were organized at the interval of six months i.e. June 2024 and January 2025 .In June 2024 camp , total 535 children were screened out of which 302 children were undernourished and those were given poshan boxes for six months. In January 2025 camp , total 555 children were screened out of which 313 children were undernourished and those children are consuming nutritional supplements. Next follow up camps were organized in the month of August 2025 and March 2026. Total 118 and 105 children were screened respectively. Decimal Foundation was providing Poshan boxes and Bal Asha Trust along with CSSC was looking after the distribution, monitoring and evaluation.From 1st April 2026 , due to unavoidable reason project was closed.
