OUR STORY

CSSC is the Centre of Study, Research and Action with a difference! We are a registered voluntary organization (NGO) and a public trust with the main purpose of undertaking problem-oriented research in socio-economic problems of the country and helping community to solve their problems through integrated programs for social change. CSSC was mainly established in 1972 by the following intellectuals :

1.Late TarkateerthLakshmanshastri Joshi, a learnedthinker, vedic philosopher and guru

2.Late Prof. G.D. Parikh, an eminent educationist

3.Late Prof. A. B. Shah,a staunch humanist and author

4.Prof. N.V. Sovani a scientist and author

5.Shri. Govindrao S. Talwalkar.

CSSC believes that no strategy of economic development can hope to succeed unless there is simultaneous integration of economic, social, cultural and human aspects in preparing the same. Such an approach would involve not only economists, sociologists, educationists, political scientists, psychologists and administrators, but also grass root level workers, each of whom would be aware that his/her contribution, though indispensable, is only one element in the total solution. CSSC , thus, works ona wide canvass with wider perspective, involving various specialists and non-specialist workers. After an initial stint at a Three Cabin office in Mumbai Marathi Sangrahalaya Office in Dadar for 26 years, CSSC received a Land Grant from the Govt. of Maharashtra in the Institutional area of Bandra Kurla Complex. CSSC has constructed a 1,60,000 Sq.ft. M. N. Roy Human Development Campus. All academic activities are conducted from this campus and field activities are undertaken in about 15 clusters of slum dwellings in H/East municipal ward in Bandra east.
